On 2 and 3 April 2019, the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS), in Brussels, Belgium, will host a series of joint events related to citizen science, including our DITOs Final Event!
On the 2nd April, RBINS will host: 1) the annual General Assembly and working group meetings of the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA), during which ECSA members are invited to make decisions and actively participate in the shaping of the Association and the Working Groups; 2) a workshop organised by BiodivERsA to increase scientist awareness of the importance and added value of citizen science, explore methodologies and adopted practices ongoing in Europe and worldwide, and to learn how to better promote and support citizen science.
On the 3rd April, the Doing It Together Science (DITOs) project will present the results and lessons learnt from the project in the DITOs Pan-European Policy Round Table on Citizen Science and DIY science. This one-day event will be a mix of talks, panels discussions, and a "marketplace" (exhibition stalls) showcasing DITOs activities and new projects, creating a great opportunity for interactivity, creativity, and networking!
Critically, citizen science is not only about data, but also about inclusion, empowerment, and increasing engagement. The event aims to engage stakeholders at different levels to discuss pathways for championing for citizen science, providing condensed inputs for European governance supportive of sustainable community-driven research and innovation.
